Cannonborough Craft Soda

Three Charleston natives started selling craft sodas at a farmers market in 2012…

The idea behind Cannonborough was to create something delicious and natural. So the founders, Matt Fendley, Mick Matricciano and Brandon Wogamon kept their day jobs while making the original batches out of a wine bar (run by Zach Smith of Dalai Sofia). Then they moved to a pizza restaurant, then a brewery, before getting their own facility.

Cannonborough got a coveted spot in a business accelerator by Chobani (the greek yogurt company). Chobani gave them $25,000, access to food-and-beverage industry veterans as mentors and monthly trips to NYC.

Since then, Cannonborough has expanded into six, southeastern states, mostly through restaurants. They’re also in some grocery stores like Whole Foods, The Fresh Market and Publix, having gone from 0 stores in 2018 to over 1,000 in 2019.

These are some seriously good (and seriously natural) sodas. And they’re great to keep in the fridge for a refresher, or when you need a little boost of sugar.

Their core flavors are Ginger Beer, Honey Basil and Grapefruit Elderflower. Cannonborough also makes seasonal brews like Strawberry Jalapeño and Apple Ginger Honey.
